Terms and Conditions

Effective September 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the 4Drive Cyprus website and the booking process for vehicles in Cyprus. By placing a booking through our platform, you accept these terms in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any reservation.

Scope

4Drive Cyprus operates an online booking platform connecting customers with local rental companies across Cyprus. We facilitate the reservation process and collect a booking advance on behalf of the rental company. The actual rental agreement, including all terms of vehicle use, insurance coverage, damage liability, and return conditions, is concluded directly between you and the rental company at the time of vehicle collection.

Each rental company sets its own operational policies, fleet specifications, and service standards. The voucher issued after booking confirmation contains the contact details of the assigned rental company, the vehicle reserved, collection location, and specific conditions applicable to your reservation. These conditions may vary between vehicles and locations.

Vehicle handover takes place at the rental company's desk, at the airport terminal, or via delivery to your accommodation, depending on the company assigned and the options selected during booking. Collection times are confirmed during the booking process and stated in your voucher.

Bookings and the Rental Agreement

When you complete a booking on the 4Drive Cyprus website, you receive a voucher detailing the vehicle reserved, collection and return locations, dates, the rental company assigned, and the advance amount paid. This voucher must be presented at collection along with the required documents.

The rental agreement itself is signed at the time of vehicle collection. The rental company staff will inspect the vehicle with you, record any existing damage in the agreement, and provide you with the keys and contract documents. All terms of use, permitted mileage, fuel policy, permitted drivers, insurance conditions, and damage liability are governed by this rental agreement.

Your obligations regarding vehicle care, road use, damage reporting, and return conditions are set out in the rental agreement. Any disputes or claims arising from the rental period are handled directly with the rental company using the contact details provided in the voucher. The rental company is responsible for the condition of the vehicle, roadside support, and resolution of any issues during the rental period.

Advance Payment and Balance

At the time of booking, you pay a booking advance by credit or debit card online. This advance secures your reservation and is transferred to the rental company. The balance of the rental cost is payable at vehicle collection. Payment methods accepted for the balance depend on the specific vehicle booked and are stated in the booking confirmation and voucher.

Some vehicles allow payment of the balance by debit card or cash, while others require a credit card. These requirements are determined by the rental company and are displayed before you confirm your booking. We recommend checking the payment conditions carefully during the reservation process to ensure you have the appropriate payment method available at collection.

The rental company may also charge additional amounts at collection for optional services such as child seats, additional driver registration, or delivery and collection fees. Fuel policies and charges for mileage overages, if applicable, are settled at vehicle return according to the rental agreement.

Deposit Conditions

The deposit is a separate amount held by the rental company as security against damage, traffic fines, or other charges incurred during the rental period. Deposit requirements vary by vehicle and are specified in the booking details and voucher. Some vehicles are available without a deposit hold, while others require a deposit blocked on a credit or debit card at collection.

The deposit amount, method of hold, and conditions for release are set by the rental company. If a deposit is required, the rental company will place a hold on your card at collection and release it after the vehicle is returned and inspected, provided no charges apply. The timeframe for release depends on your card issuer and typically ranges from a few days to two weeks.

If you book a vehicle that accepts debit cards and a deposit hold is required, ensure your card has sufficient available limit. The deposit is independent of insurance or damage waiver coverage. Even if a damage waiver reduces your liability in the event of an accident, a deposit may still be required as security.

Drivers and Documents

The primary driver must present a valid driving licence at vehicle collection. Foreign licences are accepted in Cyprus. An International Driving Permit is not required but can be useful. All drivers must meet the age and experience requirements stated in the booking conditions.

If additional drivers will operate the vehicle, they must be registered with the rental company at collection. Additional driver registration is a paid service charged by the rental company. All registered drivers must present their licences and meet the same requirements as the primary driver.

You must also present a valid passport or identity document and the payment card used for the booking advance. The rental company may request other documents or identification as part of their internal policies.

Use of the Vehicle

Vehicles must be used in accordance with the rental agreement and Cyprus traffic regulations. Left-hand traffic applies throughout Cyprus. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 80 km/h on rural roads, and 100 km/h on motorways. There are no toll roads or vignette requirements on the island.

Driving the vehicle off paved roads may be restricted depending on the vehicle type and rental agreement. Some 4x4 models permit use on gravel mountain roads and tracks, while standard vehicles are limited to paved surfaces. Check the rental agreement carefully and confirm any restrictions with the rental company at collection.

Crossing to the northern part of Cyprus requires written permission from the rental company, arranged in advance. This permission must be obtained before crossing, as unauthorised crossing violates the rental agreement and may void insurance coverage. Contact the rental company using the details in your voucher if you plan to cross.

Smoking in the vehicle, transporting pets without prior approval, and using the vehicle for commercial purposes or driving instruction are typically prohibited. Violations may result in charges or penalties applied by the rental company.

Changes and Cancellation

Cancellation and amendment policies are determined by the rental company and stated in your booking confirmation. Some bookings allow free cancellation up to a specified number of days before collection, while others have penalties or are non-refundable. Review the cancellation terms before confirming your booking.

If you need to cancel or modify your booking, contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference. Refunds for cancellations within the allowed timeframe are processed to the original payment method. Amendments to dates, vehicle type, or collection location are subject to availability and may incur additional charges.

In the event of late collection, early return, or changes to the rental duration, notify the rental company as soon as possible. Refunds for unused rental days are at the discretion of the rental company and governed by the rental agreement.

Liability

4Drive Cyprus acts as a booking platform and is not responsible for the condition of vehicles, the conduct of rental companies, or any incidents occurring during the rental period. The rental agreement concluded at collection governs all liability, damage claims, and insurance matters.

Damage to the vehicle, theft, accidents, or traffic violations are handled according to the rental agreement and insurance terms provided by the rental company. Any excess or deductible amounts stated in the rental agreement apply regardless of the booking advance or deposit conditions arranged through our platform.

We are not liable for any delays, errors, or issues arising from the rental company's operations, vehicle availability, or service quality. Claims related to vehicle performance, cleanliness, features, or delivery must be directed to the rental company.

Complaints

If you encounter any issues during your rental period, contact the rental company immediately using the contact details provided in your voucher. The rental company is responsible for resolving operational matters, vehicle defects, and service concerns.

For complaints related to the booking process, website functionality, or billing issues, contact us at [email protected]. Include your booking reference and a detailed description of the issue. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Our office is located in Kato Paphos, Paphos, Cyprus, and our operating hours are Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+2). We aim to address all complaints fairly and work with rental companies to ensure satisfactory resolution where possible.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Cyprus. Any disputes arising from the use of the 4Drive Cyprus website or the booking process are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cyprus.

The rental agreement concluded at vehicle collection is a separate contract between you and the rental company, and is governed by the terms, conditions, and applicable laws specified in that agreement.
